Atlas endorses Learning Organisation

Learning Organisation, a firm committed to advancing the best human capital practices in Ghana, has been accredited by Atlas UK as an approved eLearning Centre for the International Minimum Industry Safety Training (IMIST) programme.

This is a positive development for the local economy, as it means that courses for the oil and gas industry which hitherto had been offered overseas can now be provided locally, thus saving on foreign exchange. Learning Organisation has invested in the state-of-the art eLearning Centre to ensure that the personnel from the oil and gas industry have access to the all-important global standard for health and safety training, improve safety and competence and avoid risk and incidents.

A joint statement issued by Harry Van Der Vossen, the Chief Technology Officer of Atlas UK and Isaac Sackey, Chief Executive of Learning Organisation indicated that safety is the watch word of the oil and gas industry, thus the need for the workforce within the industry to have the-requisite skills to enable them carry out operations in a safe and controlled manner by identifying and avoiding risk.

The collaboration between Atlas UK and Learning Organisation will ensure that the oil and gas industry meets the safety requirements through the IMIST programme.
IMIST is an OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation) standard that has been developed by the industry for the industry to provide a new global standard for health and safety training, which will provide a comprehensive and consistent level of training across the world and enhance workforce safety and compliance.

The IMIST standard ensures that workers have the necessary safety awareness and training to reduce risk and ultimately reduce the number of incidents. Significant cost savings and ease of recruitment are also expected, as IMIST will reduce the need to continually repeat and duplicate training.
